Today, partly to generally cloudy conditions are likely in Koshi Province, Madhesh Province, Bagmati Province, and the hilly regions. The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to mainly fair weather. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at a few places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in the hilly areas. Other regions may see brief rain or thundershowers at one or two places. There is also a chance of light snowfall or rainfall in one or two locations of the high hilly and mountainous regions.
Tonight, similar weather conditions are expected to persist, with partly to generally cloudy skies over Koshi and Madhesh Provinces and the hilly regions, while other parts of the country remain partly cloudy to mainly fair. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Koshi and Madhesh Provinces, and at isolated locations in the hills. Light snowfall or rain is also likely at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
The department stated that the current weather pattern is being influenced by a western disturbance, local wind systems, and the partial effect of moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
In Kathmandu Valley, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected throughout the day and night. Brief rain or thundershowers are likely, with a 60 percent chance of rainfall during the afternoon and 40 percent at night.
