Nepal is observing Constitution Day and National Day 2025 today with a series of official programs across the country, highlighting a decade since the promulgation of the nation’s landmark charter.

The main ceremony is taking place this morning at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, where President Ramchandra Paudel is presiding as chief guest. Newly appointed Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki is scheduled to address the gathering, her first major public appearance since taking office last week.

This year’s celebration comes in the wake of recent political upheaval and nationwide protests, prompting authorities to forgo traditional parades and processions. Security has been tightened in and around the capital as events proceed in a subdued atmosphere.

Nepal’s Constitution was first proclaimed on September 20, 2015 (Asoj 3, 2072 BS) following years of struggle and two Constituent Assembly elections. The historic announcement was made by then-President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at the International Conference Centre in New Baneshwor, cementing a new era of federal democratic governance.

As the nation reflects on ten years of constitutional democracy, today’s observance underscores both the resilience of the Nepali people and the ongoing commitment to peace and stability under the interim government.
