Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to securing the safe and early release of Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi, who was taken hostage by the Hamas group in Israel.
PM Oli, in his Facebook post, stressed that it was Nepal’s responsibility to work for Joshi’s freedom and assured that his security is being treated as a top priority.
According to his post, Joshi’s mother, Padma Joshi, and sister, Pushpa Joshi, with support from the Nepali Embassy in Tel Aviv, recently met Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana, appealing for intervention to secure his release.
The Prime Minister also noted that he had earlier raised the issue in phone conversations with world leaders engaged in Middle East peace efforts, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 20 and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on March 12.
He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues active dialogue through Nepali embassies in the Gulf region to mobilize diplomatic channels for Joshi’s release.
Oli expressed gratitude to Nepali and local citizens, journalists, security personnel, and social activists in Israel for their support. “The government stands firmly with Bipin’s family,” his post concluded.
