Chief of Sudurpaschim Province Nazir Miya has said he was committed to safeguarding the rights of Dalit community.
At a programme organized on the occasion of 59th International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Racial Discrimination in Dhangadhi on Thursday, Miya argued that he will extend a full support in the tasks of establishing the rights of Dalits.
He was of the view that the rights of Dalits will be ensured only if the constitution was implemented by uniting all classes of the society. “The provisions ensured by the Constitution of Nepal against untouchability and caste-based discrimination should not be discarded. I have the conviction for its full implementation,” he added.
During the event, Province Assembly Members of Sudurpaschim Lalita Sunar and Laxmi BK, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kailali Yagyaraj Joshi and Deputy Mayor of Bhajani Municipality Raju Tiruwa and others expressed their views not to carry out the activities of caste-based discrimination and untouchability since they are punishable.
